Sept. 4-5, 2004
Ah, a trip out east. There is no better way to kick off the sailing season. Seven Wisconsin sailors showed up at Yale that
Saturday morning of the 4th, challenging some of the top teams in the nation. The first day was light to moderate, and Matt
Schmidt/Kelsey Cramer and Anne Porter/Anna Bargren sailed all day in A division and B division respectively, securing 21st /
22nd place. The team came off the water with feelings of confidence; having sailed against the best the nation has to offer
and holding their own. The highlight of the day was Matt Schmidt’s triumphant 2nd place finish in the fourth race of A
division. The next day held more exciting sailing, as Scott Eisenhardt subbed in to sail B’s. The wind was light to
moderate, but built throughout the day, and for the last couple races, James Dunham was put in as a heavy crew. Wisco
had more strong finishes against tough teams, and finished in 21st, beating Maine Maritime, Bowdoin, Boston U, Citadel,
and not far from U of Vermont.
