September 11th & 12th -
In the opening event for the MCSA, Wisconsin was once again pleased to host its Fall Fury Intersectional. 80 degree weather and moderate winds greeted sailors to beautiful Madison, WI. With 11 teams in attendance, the MCSA was ready to shake off the rust for an exciting
new fall season.
After day one, the University of Minnesota had sailed very well, leading Wisconsin by 17 points. Minnesota’s B sailor, Mark Dunsworth, won all but one race to solidly lead B division. Sailing Bs for Wisconsin was Scott Eisenhardt/Anna Bargren fielding all top threes to stand in second in B division. In A division, Minnesota's Ben Burgum led A's with 17 points, with Wisconsin's Matt Schmidt/Kelsey Cramer in third with 31 points.
Sunday did not lack beautiful weather, but the wind refused to cooperate. Unfortunately no races were sailed on Sunday due to lack of wind. Only a few teasing thermals touched the waters of Lake Mendota that day.
In the final standings, Minnesota took first place with 31 points followed by Wisconsin with 48 and Ohio University with 63. Another regatta run success for Wisconsin as we hosted a smooth event through and through. Thanks to regatta chair Amy Schultz and PRO's David Porter and Peter Lundt.
