Winds were streaky across Baseline Lake Saturday with frequent shifts. Winds ranged
from 8 to 15 knots. Modified Olympics and modified triangles were sailed. Anna
Bargren crewed for John Porter in A division while Joe Zechlinski skippered B's with
Carolyn Soling and James Dunham crewing. Eight teams competed. Two protests and one
request for redress were filed. After day one, Wisconsin trailed Minnesota by four
points.
Sunday brought cold morning temperatures and no wind. Racing began at 10:30 in 3 to
7 knots, again with large oscillations. Courses were Gold Cup, with only three races
sailed in each division. Wisconsin rallied to 2nd in A's and a win in B's. Numerous
protests occurred in the final races, extending Wisconsin's lead to 12 points overall.
Congrats to Wisco with a first-ever win at Cary Price.
