Hoofers Winter Carnival 2011
 
So it’s 40 degrees warmer than last week?  That’s not going to stop the Annual Hoofers Winter Carnival!  With a few scheduling adjustments, the Winter Carnival will continue in Memorial Union, the Terrace and the Lakefront from Thursday, February 17 through Sunday, February 20 starting at 4:30 pm on Lake Mendota and the Memorial Union
Terrace.
Due to less than ideal ice conditions on the lake, broomball, skating and tricycle racing are canceled.  But late-night skiing at Tyrol, the sky- diving demonstration, carriage rides and Bucky Badger ice sculpting are still on as scheduled.  A few other events will depend on the weather, so be sure to keep checking the Hoofer web site or Facebook page for updates.
This free event, sponsored by ASM, the Wisconsin Union Directorate and Hoofers, is intended for UW students, staff, faculty and Union members and guests. A list of events is listed below...
 
THURSDAY (February 17th)
 

• Ski & Snowboard Hat Day
  • Wear your SnS hat around campus if spotted by a Hoofers member- win free prizes!

• Hoofers Garage Sale: 4:30-8:30PM, Check TITU for location
  • Kickoff Winter Carnival with free refreshments and discounted Hoofers apparel and accessories at Memorial Union.

FRIDAY (February 18th)
 

• Carriage Rides: 2-5PM, Departing from Park St. Circle
  • Take a free ride around campus in Hoofer’s very own horse-drawn carriages.

• Tricycle Races-- **CANCELED

 
SATURDAY (February 19th)
 

• Broom Ball Tournament-- **CANCELED

• Sky Diving: 1-4PM @ Memorial Union Terrace
  • Stop on by to see local sky-divers plummet to the ice.

• Carriage Rides: 2-5PM, Depart from Park St. Circle
  • Take a free ride around campus in Hoofer’s very own horse-drawn carriages.

• Snow Shoeing--  

• Free Ski Night: 8:15PM @ Tyrol Basin
  • Sign up at the Outdoor Programs Office (in the Memorial Union basement) for a night of skiing and snowboarding that’s totally free! Meet us there or ride the bus! Bus pickup is in front of Memorial Union at 8:15pm. Hurry, spots are going quickly!

SUNDAY (February 20th)

• Bucky Ice Sculpture: 10AM–4PM @ Memorial Union Terrace
  • Stop on by throughout the day to see your very own Bucky the Badger come to life by Madison’s favorite ice-sculpturer. Wait and see just how tall he can get!

• Snow Kiting: 10AM – 4:30PM @ Memorial Union Terrace
  • Ever thought sailing in winter wasn’t possible? Think again! Ice, sails, and determined UW-students make an impressive combination.

• Open Skating-- **CANCELED
